Frequently asked questions

Yes, although it depends on the platform you are migrating from. You can definitely migrate your content from WordPress with Ghost’s official migration plugin. We will gladly help you with your migration.
Ghost is primarily intended to run a content publishing website, such as blogs or newsletters. You can “hack” it for many other uses, but if running a publishing website is not your main goal, then you are better off with Wordpress or something else. Check out our managed hosting for that.
Ghost is an open source publishing platform developed in Node.js. It is currently the highest “starred” non-developer focused CMS on Github, right after Hugo, the most famous static-page generator. You can learn more about Ghost on their official website at Ghost.org.
WordPress is awesome software. But it’s not modern and its UI is (subjectively) not great. It also lacks a number of features for running a publishing website out-of-the box such as built-in SEO or built-in membership and subscription features. WordPress is also usually much slower than Ghost, especially when filled with plugins of questionable quality.
